A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.
The museum is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 4:45 p.m. It is closed Monday and Tuesday.
Admission is $5 general, $4 senior citizens, $3 students and children ages 7-18, and free for children under 7 and students, staff and faculty with KSU I.D. Admission also is free on Sundays.
The museum is in Rockwell Hall at East Main and South Lincoln streets on the Main Campus in Kent. Special guided tours are available for groups by reservation. Free on-site motor coach parking is available.
