Atwood Lake Park July Fourth celebration
Atwood Lake Park will be the site of a July Fourth celebration July 3-5.
Events begin July 3 at 11 a.m. with a bicycle safety check by the staff of Ernie’s Bicycle Shop. Then at 1 p.m., the park Nature Center opens for the day.
On July 4, a full day of events leads up to the fireworks show. Activities include a fishing instruction session and children’s crafts, both at 10 a.m., followed by the annual “Firecracker Tie Dye T-Shirt Contest” at 11 a.m. A nature hike is planned at 1 p.m., a bicycle decorating contest and camper cornhole tournament are set for 2 p.m. and a bike parade follows at 4 p.m.
At Atwood Lake Resort will host a Car Show from 4 to 8 p.m. Car show registration is from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The Phil & Sparky Show Band will play at 4 p.m. Atwood Lake Resort and Conference Center is at 2650 Lodge Rd. in Dellroy.
Later, the Phil & Sparky Show Band will play at 7 p.m. on the beach at the park.
Fireworks will happen at dusk, ignited from Atwood Lake Resort and visible from Atwood Lake Park.
Events on July 5 include an adult craft at 10 a.m. and a craft for campers ages 4 and up at noon. The “Great American Rib Burn Off” is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with ribs prepared by several participants.
Atwood Lake Park is at 4956 Shop Rd. NE near Mineral City, just off State Route 212 near Bolivar and 15 minutes from I-77.
Admission is $5 per car.
Overnight camping is available in the park and the park’s swimming beach will be open all weekend long.
