A used cell phone drive has been organized to benefit Robbie, a Canal Fulton man with ALS disease. Proceeds will go to assist with costs of a trip to China for treatment.
Used cell phones can be dropped off through May 29 at Cut and Curl Corner, at 2170 Locust St. in Canal Fulton, next to FirstMerit Bank and across the street from Dairy Queen. Salon hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

This exhibit concentrates on the extremely important, but nonpolitical role that First Ladies play in international diplomatic relationships for our country. This exhibit will feature First Ladies Elizabeth Monroe, Harriet Lane, Helen Taft, Lou Hoover, Jackie Kennedy, Pat Nixon, Rosalynn Carter and Hillary Clinton. On display will be gifts given to First Ladies from various countries around the world on loan from Presidential Libraries and Museums.
Tour includes the exhibit of the Education Building and the Saxton McKinley House

Stark Parks invites parents, grandparents and their pre-schoolers to meet a live snake and learn about what snakes eat, where they sleep, and why they slither. Little Explorers programs are designed to offer basic nature exploration for pre-schoolers. Program takes place from 11 am-Noon at Stark Parks Exploration Gateway, 5712 12th St NW, on the north end of Sippo Lake in Perry Township. Reservations required.
Brown Bag Lunch / Organ Recitals to close series with St. Timothy's Episcopal 's own Cheryl Bower. As usual the church will furnish coffee, tea and water to go with your sandwich etc. The recital is 30 minutes in length and is followed at 12:10 p.m. by the Midweek Communion and Healing Service. There is a short break between the recital and the service. St. Timothy's Episcopal Church has enjoyed bringing this musical opportunity to the community.

“The Unguarded Moment,” a retrospective exhibit of 50 photos by Steve McCurry, is on view from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays Feb. 6 through April 2 at the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, at 520 Cleveland Ave. NW in downtown Canton.
Admission is free.
McCurry is the photographer who took what has been called the most recognizable photograph in the world today — the green-eyed “Afghan Girl” on the cover of National Geographic in 1984.

At noon each Wednesday in Lent, a half-hour organ recital will be given by area organists in Westbrook Park United Methodist Church at 2521 12th St. NW in Canton.
Each recital has a theme and Scripture for personal meditation.
The organ console is moved to the center of the chancel so all can see the performer.
This series has continued for the past 19 years and is free to the public.

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will be hosting the Harvest for Hunger Idol at 6 p.m. March 24 at the Akron Civic Theatre. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Performers from local businesses and organizations holding Harvest for Hunger food and funds drives will compete to raise the most dollars to support hunger-relief efforts. Spectators of the event can vote for their favorite performer. Each dollar donated counts as one vote, and the performer who collects the most donations the night of the event will be crowned the Harvest for Hunger Idol.

The Malone University Department of Theatre will stage Oscar Wilde’s classic, The Importance of Being Earnest, Tuesday, March 23 through Saturday, March 27 in the Performing Arts Hall of Founders Hall on the Canton campus.
