The 44th annual Northeast Ohio Photography Show at the Canton Jewish Community Center will run from Feb. 5 through Feb. 25. The Jewish Center, at 2631 Harvard Ave. NW, is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A special preview for entrants, sponsors, patrons and donors will take place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4.
The show, sponsored by the late Dr. Samuel S. and Celia G. Reinglass, will run through Feb. 25.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.

Don't let bad weather keep you from enjoying park time with your little one! We bring the park inside by creating an indoor kiddie wonderland in the gym. You and your child can play on tumbling mats or with balls, bats, hoops, tricycles, slides and more during this unstructured free time on Thursdays Nov. 5, 2009, through March 4, 2010, from 10 a.m. to noon. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The program is free for Massillon Recreation Center members and children age 3 and under, $6 for nonmembers and children over age 3.

“The Unguarded Moment,” a retrospective exhibit of 50 photos by Steve McCurry, is on view from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays Feb. 6 through April 2 at the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, at 520 Cleveland Ave. NW in downtown Canton.
Admission is free.

McCurry is the photographer who took what has been called the most recognizable photograph in the world today — the green-eyed “Afghan Girl” on the cover of National Geographic in 1984.

T.H.I.N.K.: Together Helping Increase Neurological Knowledge

We need YOU to attend T.H.I.N.K. This support group is for those individuals that have been diagnosed with stroke and their family/caregivers. It is an opportunity for discussion, caregiver support, resource sharing, and an environment to promote motivation and offer encouragement to those who attend.
This group is open to the public. It meets every third Thursday of the month, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., unless otherwise posted. The group is facilitated by licensed independent social worker Andrea Crayden.

The Shepherd’s Gate Child Care Center is hosting a spaghetti dinner and bake sale fundraiser from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at Beech Mennonite Church, to benefit the child care center at the church.
The menu for the dinner, which is open to the public, features spaghetti, tossed salad or applesauce, dinner rolls and homemade desserts. Take-out will be available.
Also available for purchase will be bake sale items, "Feeding the Flock" cookbooks and cookware items.
The child care center and the church are at 10037 Easton St. NE in Nimishillen Township, one mile south of Route 62.

Author and guild member Marilyn Tullys will speak on “Writing for the Joy of It” at the monthly meeting of the Greater Canton Writer’s Guild to be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the North canton Library, 185 N. Main St., N. Canton, OH.

The NEAR Neighborhood Association is holding a Community Meeting regarding the 23-25th Street Storm Sewer Project at 6 p.m. Feb. 18 at the J.R. Coleman Center (Horace Mann), ay 1731 Grace Ave. NE in Canton.
Guest speakers will be project manager Christopher Barnes from the City of Canton engineering department, and newly elected Ward 9 Councilman Brian Horner.
The meeting is open to the public.
The facility is fully accessible. Attendees can park on either side of the building and enter through the front middle doors.
The meeting will be on the first floor to the left.

The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department and Jump Start Sports have combined forces to offer a Speed Training and Conditioning Program at Paul L. David Athletic Training Center. Classes will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This program will work on speed training, agility and conditioning to help athletes ages 8-14 take their game to the next level. Participants will work with successful college athletes in a small group setting. You can register in person at the Massillon Recreation Center or online at www.jumpstartsports.com.

Healing is a vital part of the grieving process and is a journey formed out of brokenness and results in a turn? Are you feeling broken and/or lost? Grief can impact a person's life for weeks, months, and even years after a loss. Hospice of Stark County considers it an honor and a privilege to provide professional, compassionate and free services to assist with the needs of the grieving individuals and families.

Dates: Thursday evenings beginning 2/11 to 4/8 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.

A qi gong class will take place on the last two Mondays of February, the 15th and 22nd, and the last two Thursdays of February, the 18th and 25th, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Chen Acupuncture Health Center at 2405 Fulton Rd. NW in Canton.
Qi gong is a traditional Chinese exercise system. It has been practiced for several thousand years in China as a "medical keep fit" activity to maintain health, heal the body, calm the mind and reconnect with one’s spirit.
Qi gong is an art and skill to train the "qi," which creates a balanced lifestyle.
