The 44th annual Northeast Ohio Photography Show at the Canton Jewish Community Center will run from Feb. 5 through Feb. 25. The Jewish Center, at 2631 Harvard Ave. NW, is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A special preview for entrants, sponsors, patrons and donors will take place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4.
The show, sponsored by the late Dr. Samuel S. and Celia G. Reinglass, will run through Feb. 25.

Valentine’s Day this coming year brings to mind candy, flowers and ... a bowl of rice? That's right—a bowl of rice! It may not be a romantic dinner, but on Valentine’s Day weekend First Friends Church is partnering with Heaven Sent Ministries’ “Food for Children” to feed hungry people in Burkina Faso. We would like to invite you to join us! Through the “Food for Children” challenge, you can help give a family in Burkina Faso a chance for survival in the midst of displacement and hunger.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.

Stark Social Workers Network, at 1221 Harrisburg Rd. NE, will offer free baby clothes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 11.

Sizes newborn to 4T will be available. Photo ID is required for adults, along with Social Security card or Medical card for the children. Free toddler toys and information on the new parents club will be available.

Burlington Coat Factory at 4790 Everhard Rd. NW is collecting monetary donations to support the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.
Donations will be accepted through Feb. 17. All Burlington Coat Factory locations will accept donations to the fund.
Assistance provided by the American Red Cross may include sending relief supplies, mobilizing relief workers and providing financial resources.

Through the Help Haiti campaign, Westfield Belden Village mall is serving as a donation collection site for Convoy of Hope Charities. Donations can be made at the Concierge Center in the north wing. Proceeds are transferred directly to those in need.
Convoy of Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that already has an emergency command center operating just outside of the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince and is distributing water and supplies to victims of the earthquake.

The 2010 Great Big Home & Garden Expo will take place Feb. 6-14 at the I-X Center in Cleveland.
The show will feature three custom-built model homes, 21 gardens, hundreds of exhibits, a host of other features and celebrity appearances, and a multitude of new ideas, products and inspiration for home improvements projects.
The show is being produced by Marketplace Events of Solon.
Company spokesman Ty Pennington will make two live appearances at the show Feb. 13.

“The Unguarded Moment,” a retrospective exhibit of 50 photos by Steve McCurry, is on view from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays Feb. 6 through April 2 at the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, at 520 Cleveland Ave. NW in downtown Canton.
Admission is free.

McCurry is the photographer who took what has been called the most recognizable photograph in the world today — the green-eyed “Afghan Girl” on the cover of National Geographic in 1984.

In light of a shortage of productive units of blood in the area, Alliance Community Hospital staff is hoping eligible blood donors will come out to the monthly blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 11 in conference room 1-A of the hospital, at 200 E. State St.

Donors must be in general good health, weigh no less than 110 pounds, be at least 17 years of age and able to provide a photo ID at the time of donation.

The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department and Jump Start Sports have combined forces to offer a Speed Training and Conditioning Program at Paul L. David Athletic Training Center. Classes will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This program will work on speed training, agility and conditioning to help athletes ages 8-14 take their game to the next level. On Thursday, February 11, 2010 the Stark County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will hold their monthly meeting. Christopher Kenney from the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum will be doing a program titled the "Early Auto Industry in Stark County.".
