A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.

Join a naturalist at 10 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month for a walk on the trails at the Wilderness Center.
This free event is for all ages.
The Wilderness Center is at 9877 Alabama Ave. SW in Sugar Creek Township.

Burlington Coat Factory at 4790 Everhard Rd. NW is collecting monetary donations to support the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.
Donations will be accepted through Feb. 17. All Burlington Coat Factory locations will accept donations to the fund.
Assistance provided by the American Red Cross may include sending relief supplies, mobilizing relief workers and providing financial resources.

Through the Help Haiti campaign, Westfield Belden Village mall is serving as a donation collection site for Convoy of Hope Charities. Donations can be made at the Concierge Center in the north wing. Proceeds are transferred directly to those in need.
Convoy of Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that already has an emergency command center operating just outside of the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince and is distributing water and supplies to victims of the earthquake.

Pat Catan’s, at 4321 Whipple Ave. NW in Jackson Township, will have a free Valentine’s Day “Make and Not Take” event Jan. 30 through Feb. 6.

Participants can make Valentine’s cards that will be distributed to residents of nursing homes and extended care facilities. The card-making takes place from noon until 5 p.m. each day, and all supplies are provided.

Pastor Paul Sartorelli will speak on “Staying Very Married While Staying Very Busy” at the February Table Talk sponsored by The Chapel in Akron from noon to 12:50 p.m. Feb. 3.
The event will be at the Mocha Maiden at 17-19 Maiden Ln. (near Crave and Big City Chophouse) in Akron.
Cost of $6.50 is for a boxed lunch.

The Kent State women’s basketball game Feb. 3 will raise money for women’s heart health education. The game against Toledo will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 with pre-game heart-health activities beginning at 6 p.m.
The game will feature a raffle for a heart-healthy basket and heart healthy
in-game activities and prizes.
The spectator in the best red outfit also will win overnight accommodations for two at the Bertram Inn in Aurora and a three-course dinner for two in the Leopard Restaurant, awarded the AAA Four Diamond Award.

NAMI Stark County offers the HAND - to - HAND Parent Education Class

The Malone University School of Graduate and Professional Studies will have representatives on hand to explain its accelerated degree completion program at a series of information meetings. The meetings will take place at 6:00 p.m. on February 3 in room 205, Mitchell Hall on the Malone University campus located at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W.

Trinity Brethren Church is hosting a study on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30. This study consists of a 15 minute video and discussion based on the material, If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat by John Ortberg. This study is about facing our fears and choosing to follow God's direction for our lives. Trinity Brethren is located at 455 55th St. NW, N. Canton between Main and Market.

Magnolia Trinity Lutheran Church, at 205 Harrison St. (State Route 183), will hold evening prayer meetings the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Stanley Hauerwas, Ph.D., the Gilbert T. Rowe professor of theological ethics at the Divinity School of Duke University, will present the Carr Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3 in Presser Recital Hall.
